A Formula For Creating Viral Content Sites Optimized For Social Media Traffic Only (Nate: on-going)

What?

Can a team of SEOs create a repeatable, teachable process to create profitable viral content sites by focusing only on social media traffic?

Why?

As every SEO knows, relying on Google as a sole revenue stream can be risky. The rules are always changing and lately, an extended sandbox period has made it  even more difficult to scale SEO based sites quickly.

More and more web users are using social media for content discovery. Over the last few years, viral content and social media traffic has created some of the fastest growing media companies in history. NoHatSeo helped demystify the process of using your own PBN to rank niche sites and created internships that teach niche site building step by step. I’d like NoHatDigital to do the same for socially shareable content.

How?

In week 4 of the current internship, interns will be working together to build a viral content site. They’ve been given training material based on my experience with viral content, as well as strategies and tactics taught by leaders in the field. Each intern will create 6 pieces of content, 3 list articles, 2 news items (including 1 video), and 1 article format of their choice. Interns will focus on creating “Curiosity Gap” headlines and crafting content designed for social sharing by reverse engineering content in their niche that is already being shared.

In week 5, interns will work daily to promote their content by tweeting influencers, submitting to social media sites and leveraging their own networks.

Who?

The July 21st internship cohort will work as a team to create viral content and promote it through social media. There will be approximately 300-400 finished pieces of content, if that content can generate a minimum of $3000-$4000 within 1 month (average content value of $10), I will consider that experiment profitable.

If the same targets can be hit for the Aug 25th internship cohort, I’ll consider the process “teachable’ and “repeatable”. If both goals are met, I’ll consider the experiment a success.

The current internship is already in progress, but there’s still time to apply for the Aug 25th internship if you want an inside look at what we’re doing with viral content and social media traffic.

When?

The experiment started on Aug 11th, 2014 and will run through the following internship. If it is successful, it’ll be added to the standard internship curriculum. If it’s a failure, I’ll tweak the flaws and make sure the processes and training are more effective and test it again.
